CHP Officer is hit by Vehicle in South Sacramento

On October 17, 2022, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer is in critical but stable condition after being hit by a driver south Sacramento.

While CHP officers were investigating another accident involving a bicycle hit by a vehicle, the suspected driver who hit the CHP officer hit the officer around 12:32 a.m. while traveling a high rate of speed in 2004 Ford Mustang.

The CHP officer was standing outside of a patrol vehicle before he was struck.  The alleged driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
